Welcome in the International Directory of Psychological Journals ( R.I.P.P.)

The Index conteins the titles of more than 3000 journals. Where possible, data is supplied for each entry to ensure that it can be traced.

The index can be used in different ways.In the cases where the title of the journal is known research can be carried out writing the title.

Where the name of the review is not known, research can be carried out in the subject area choosing the pertinent topic . A list of relevant journals follows the subject. All the topics are translated in four languages : German, Italian, French, Spanish.

Very often , after the title, there is also a subtitle which provides information on the content of the journal.

Many Periodicals are directely readable via on-line or through Databases,that are mentioned in the Notes.Some Databases and specialized Agencies provide articles and abstracts on demand.


The layout used is the following:

NAME - the name is printed in its original language; in case of transliteration from other alphabets, the most commonly used forms in English and Italian used.

SUBTITLE - the sub-title is printed in its original language

PUBLISHER - the name and address of the publisher which actually issues the journal is given. The name and address of the editor(s) are not, as often is the case, often change and are more difficult to trace than the publisher.

ISSN - it is the acronym for International Standard Serial Number. The international code number identifies the journal ( not the single issue ) to which is attributed. It is useful above all in on line research using data banks, in checking a title, in distinguishing between journals with the same name.

COUNTRY - it gives the country where the journal is prepared. The country where the journal is edited is not always the same as where it is printed and/or distributed.

A.F. - the year the periodical was founded.

PERIODICITY - The periodicity shows the frequency of the publication within a year. For different frequency we have the following abbreviations:
IRR. Irregular
B. Two-yearly
T. Three-yearly

LANGUAGE OF THE ARTICLE - language used for the article

LANGUAGES SUMMARIES - often the summaries in the journals are not in the same language as the articles. The trend is for publications inlanguages not widely spoken outside the country of origin, to provide summaries in better known languages such as English, French, or Spanish.

DATA BANKS - Data banks are electroonic archives run by a computer; they conteain the rilevant details of any document in multi-media form. In this case it is periodicals. The information contained in a data bak is accessible using an on line link between the users computer and the central computer. Information can also be gathered using "on disc" system, that is CD Roms which the user can buy and use with is computer.Today nearly all important journals have abstracts of their articles recorded in data banks. Tha data bank can generally provide copies of the article as well as the abstract.

NOTES - where there are notes they clarify or provide information useful for a better understanding of the content of the journal.

TOPIC - this is the term which identifies the subject area of the journal.

Are marked as international automakers as the country's original and the last column the name of the country in Italian.
